ACC 6311 - Seminar in Financial AccountingCredits: 3 Class: 3 Lab: 0 Prerequisite(s): Acceptance to the Master of Professional Accountancy Program. This course is designed to enhance graduate students’ mastery of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and key topics in financial accounting and reporting identified in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) Blueprint. While gaining comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of these areas, students will study applications of GAAP to solve problems encountered in modern accounting practice. Additional focus will be placed on the preparation and analysis of financial statements using advanced techniques in financial statement analysis.
The course uses the AICPA Blueprint to ensure comprehensive coverage of financial accounting and reporting content and integrates problem-solving, simulations, and task-based assignments to reinforce the material studied. By the end of the course, students will develop the technical knowledge, analytical skills, and competencies necessary to master applied accounting and analysis.
