SOCW 5303 - Human Behavior in the Social EnvironmentCredits: 3 Class: 3 Lab: 0 Prerequisite(s): Admissions into the MSW program or departmental approval. This course will help students examine the assumptions of human behavior in the social environment and the person-in-environment perspective, introduce how theories are used to understand and work with clients and client systems, and critique the usefulness of theories for social work practice.
To understand how to apply the bio-psycho-social-spiritual framework, students will learn major theories such as empowerment, critical, systems, lifespan, family course, psychodynamic, the neuroscience of attachment and trauma, cognitive and moral development, and transpersonal theories.
