Credits: 3 Class: 3 Lab: 0
Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into the UHD MBA program or the Graduate Certificate in Business Intelligence.
This course provides students with a solid foundation in the techniques and tools used to discover patterns, trends, and relationships in large datasets. This course focuses on extracting valuable insights from structured and unstructured data using a range of data and text mining techniques, emphasizing practical applications and real-world problem-solving. Students will learn to apply methodologies and applications to analyze data, uncover hidden patterns, and transform raw data into actionable knowledge. We will work with real business problems and data in the class. We will examine the types of questions data and text mining can answer and the appropriate machinelearning tools for answering different questions. The emphasis is on understanding the concepts and logic behind a broad set of data mining techniques and their relation to specific business analytics situations. The course is not about mastering the theoretical underpinnings of the techniques, let alone algorithms. The course also focuses on a business analytics team project to encapsulate the learnings.
