This program prepares students to launch, manage, and grow ventures with confidence and purpose. It supports aspiring entrepreneurs with diverse goals, whether starting a new enterprise, expanding a small business, or strengthening a family firm. The curriculum blends foundational business knowledge with applied learning experiences to help students develop an innovative, opportunity-driven mindset. Through project-based coursework, experiential learning, mentorship, and internship opportunities, learners engage with the full entrepreneurial process-from recognizing opportunities and validating ideas to designing sustainable business models and managing daily operations.

Program Learning Outcomes

UHD BBA graduates will:

  1. The student will use quantitative, ethical, and technology-assisted decision-making methods.
  2. The student will demonstrate career skills, including communication, professionalism, and an understanding of teamwork.
  3. The student will understand core business functions.
  4. Identify the factors influencing individual and organizational responsibilities and the ramifications of unethical behavior.

In addition, BBA Entreprenuership and Family Business graduates will meet the following learning outcomes:

  1. Describe the core concepts of entrepreneurship.
  2. Evaluate the feasibility of entrepreneurial ventures.
  3. Analyze how local, national and global ecosystems impact entrepreneurship.
  4. Identify the unique characteristics of family businesses.
  5. Describe the components of a business plan.

Bachelor of Business Administration Programs


All majors within the Bachelor of Business Administration degree share the Texas Common Core requirements and a common core of business course requirements (Business core is listed under the Preparatory Area of the degree plan). These two core areas must be completed in addition to the Major Area and Elective Area of the degree plan.

Students must complete the Texas Common Core Area prior to enrolling in upper-division courses. Upon completion of the Texas Common Core Area requirements and earning the requisite GPA, students should file for admission to the Marilyn Davies College of Business.

Degree Requirements


Texas Common Core Area (42 hours)


Common core requirements may be filled by taking any of the courses listed as options under the heading of Common Core Requirements detailed in the Undergraduate Academic Programs section. To fulfill the Mathematics requirement, MATH 1324, or equivalent, is required. Transfer students who have not completed the institutional requirement are recommended to take UHD 2301 - University Seminar-Communication specifically “Going Virtual: Communication in Cyberspace.” Transfer students whose transfer credits, plus UHD credits, enable them to fulfill the common core and business core requirement in fewer than 90 hours may use free electives to complete the hours needed.

Students must select at least one of the following courses:

BBA Free Electives

Majors must complete a sufficient number of elective semester credit hours so that their entire coursework, including the above required courses, totals 120 semester credit hours. Upper or lower-level courses that are not used to satisfy other requirements may be applied to this area. Developmental courses, such as ENG 1300, MATH 0300, and MATH 1300, may not be applied as Free Electives to any MDCOB BBA or BAAS graduation requirements. Workforce Education (WECM) coursework may not be applied as Free Electives to any MDCOB BBA graduation requirements.

Free Electives (6 SCHs)


Students choose two (6 SCHs) free electives inside UHD at any level, inside or outside MDCOB to achieve 120 SCHs.
