COMM 6301 - Speech Communication for the Elementary School TeacherCredits: 3 Class: 3 Lab: 0 Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing. An experientially-oriented course designed to explore the theoretical and pragmatic rationale for using thoughtful communication strategies in the urban-centered elementary school classroom, with an emphasis on practical means of implementing those strategies effectively. Topics include voice and diction skills, public speaking, message structuring, discussion methods, cultural diversity, storytelling, active listening, and effective use of feedback.
