ECH 6304 - Observation and Assessment of Young ChildrenCredits: 3 Class: 3 Lab: 0 Prerequisite(s): Graduate/post baccalaureate standing and department approval. This graduate level course will focus on research, theory and application of evaluating teaching and learning through observation, assessment and analysis of young children and their teachers. Class content focuses primarily on the development of the young child, the national and state guidelines for early childhood observation and assessment strategies, and developmentally appropriate practices. Theoretical and practical models, applications and methods of assessment of observation and assessment will be reviewed within the process of the Assessment Decision Cycle. For this online course, the class readings and assignments will be supplemented with videos, web links, shared discussions and various formats for learning and sharing, as well as projects, practicing and modeling.
