COMM 4325 - Communication Law and EthicsCredits: 3 Class: 3 Lab: 0 Prerequisite(s): 6 hours of COMM and junior standing. This course will introduce students to the legal and ethical considerations that shape the communication process. It surveys the development of constitutional protections and regulations of communication in the United States, with an emphasis on the ethical challenges and responsibilities of exercising freedoms established by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The course emphasizes the evolution of the First Amendment, significant Supreme Court cases interpreting First Amendment law, and the rhetoric of freedom of communication.
