POLS 3317 - Politics and Animal Rights

Prerequisite(s): POLS 2305   and POLS 2306  
In this course, the students shall be introduced to the history of the global animal rights movement; the philosophical (Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, and Confucian) foundation of the contemporary animal protection movement; major issues in the contemporary era on animal cruelty and animal exploitation; legal frameworks for dealing with the various crises in human-animal relations; and the major challenges to substantial breakthroughs in policies in the legal systems for animal protection in all countries.
