This program is designed to be a degree completion degree for students that have already received an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AASN) degree along with their RN license. The program focuses on the management and leadership skills needed to allow nurses to advance in the managerial ranks. The curriculum will also help develop the necessary academic skills to allow nurses to matriculate into graduate programs for those seeking this professional option. This program will be designed to meet the accrediting standards of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Admission Requirements

  1. Submit an application via www.applytexas.org
  2. Pay non-refundable $50 application fee
  3. Submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
  4. Submit an official transcript of an associate degree in nursing (ADN)
  5. Provide evidence of a valid, unencumbered Texas Registered Nurse or a multi-state compact license
  6. Submit proof of current CPR/AED certification
  7. Other admissions requirements, 2.0 GPA, C or better in Nursing courses

Core Curriculum Requirements (42 hours)

AASN Curriculum (45 hours)


Students with an associate degree in nursing and who have obtained their RN licenture will be given 45 hours of credit towards UHD’s RN to BSN degree.

Electives (3 hours)


Approved NURS or HEA elective.
